What I learnt from a man who suffered from India’s partition
Life is unpredictable
I visited my friend who came from Canada to see his grandfather who was very sick. My friend is a Punjabi whose ancestral home is in Gujranwala, a city in Pakistan. This city is famous for its wrestlers.
I met my friend and his family members. His grandfather too was a wrestler in his youth and quite fit. After enquiring about his health, my friend’s grandfather said “I want to visit Gujranwala, my birth place before I die”. We somehow convinced him that its not possible due to tensions going on between two countries. His grandfather said that he never thought that he had to leave his ancestral home in such tense situations.
