Introductory Note
Dear readers,Welcome to the 16th Edition of “Twin Minds: Alba & Anton”!
On June 21, 2024, António Carneiro Gonçalves, known in the literary world as Anton, would have turned 83 years old.Although physically absent, Anton remains alive through his works and an increasingly presence among us as they are now being published in a bilingual digital version. This edition, which celebrates not only his life but also the relevance of his work, invites the reader to revisit the tribute paid to him on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death on January 20, 2024.
Anton, a name given to António by his brother Sebastião Alba, left a literary legacy that continues to inspire and resonate. The recent visit of Mané Gonçalves, another brother of Anton, to his grave at the S. José de Lhanguene Cemetery in Maputo symbolizes the ongoing family connection and the immortal longing evoked by his words.
