The Quantum Computing Jump: A Prime Case for Future-Proof Investments
Quantum Computing vis-à-vis AI can drive efficiency and innovation, and elevate industries from niche experimentation to market dominance
Quantum computing (QC) relies on the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics to process information, it represents a cutting-edge innovation in computer technology. Computers, from smartphones to supercomputers, operate by using bits as the basic unit of information. Bits are binary and can be in one of two states, represented by 0 or 1. Based on this binary concept, classical computing has offered great capabilities and has fuelled a digital revolution several decades ago that continues today. However, the classical concepts of binary computing, face critical limitations when dealing with highly complex computational problems on large-scale; these involve massive data processing capacities and require magnitudes of computation power and performance.⁽¹⁷⁾⁽¹⁹⁾
QC, alternatively, use quantum bits or qubits, which, due to the principles of superposition and entanglement, can exist in multiple states simultaneously (fig. 1). A qubit can be in a state of 0, 1, or any superposition…
