On October 17, 2024, Yahya Sinwar, the key figure behind the surprise attacks on Israel that occurred on October 7, 2023, was neutralized.The death of Sinwar surprisingly was not a part of a special operation and came about in an exchange with some trainee Israeli soldiers during their patrol in Tal as-Sultan. Earlier reports suggested that Sinwar had been surrounding himself and using hostages as shields. However, no hostages were found in the building where Sinwar met his fate.The whole world rejoiced and celebrated the death of the Hamas leader that had been threatening Israel for a long time. Times Magazine released their and Israel shared a pic of with the caption “finally united”.Nonetheless, the reactions in the Middle East were quite different with Iran advocating that the “resistance will endure”, hailing Sinwar as “model for the youth” as thousands of Palestinians gathered to remember their hero.
