In a shockingly brutal white nationalist racist rally in Madison Square Garden Sunday, all the hatred, racism, and vile tendencies of Trump’s red-hot speakers were on display in all their shocking ignorance. The island of Puerto Rico was singled out and denounced as a “floating island of garbage,” by an obscure comedian in the parade of haters.But this was no joke to the people who live on this lovely island that is a territory of the United States. The inhabitants of Puerto Rico cannot vote in the upcoming elections, but ever since Trump refused to give financial aid relief to the island after Hurricane Maria in 2017, there has been an exodus of Puerto Ricans immigrating to the United States.They have moved to mainland states like Florida, and swing states like North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Puerto Ricans are now reportedly the second-largest Latino subgroup in those states, according to an article by Phil McCausland of BBC News on Sunday.
