Labor Party Say it will Form Joint List with Meretz
The Labor Party, led by Chairman Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan, on Wednesday announced at the 11th Labor Party Conference that it plans to merge with Meretz.This comes after polling in May showed that the Labor Party was not expected to cross the electoral threshold in future elections, but that Meretz stood to win approximately 5 seats in the Knesset.The new center-left party, which will be called the Democratic Party, is in the late stages of merger talks, and is expected to finalize its formation in the coming weeks.It is as of yet unclear whether the two parties will hold a joint primary, or separate primaries, before compiling a joint list.
