If you’re looking for a perfect living example of the phrase “between the devil and the deep blue sea,” just consider the Arab world, especially the Gulf states.Neither can they befriend Israel, nor Iran. They can’t even afford angering either of those. The best-case scenario for them was to continue with the status quo that had been in place since 1979.
