I come from a third-world country, and many of my fellow citizens dream of immigrating to Western and Gulf nations. The reason seems clear: larger economies offer greener pastures. However, to my surprise, this is not the only cause.Whenever I asked the immigration aspirants if the economy was the only reason for them to leave their homeland, they mostly replied that the judicial system and accountability attract them the most after financial gains. Everyone is equal before the law. The aspirants can have the peace of mind that no one will mess with them.Next in admiration are the laws and respect for human values.In countries like Pakistan, “might is right” prevails. Justice, laws, and respect for human values are almost non-existent for the poor or the weak. Even though Arab Sheikhdoms have their flaws, they’re still better than many South Asian countries. In the West, these principles are the most functional.Ironically, these values were enshrined very clearly in the Islamic religious text.
