Senior military leaders who previously served under former U.S. President Donald Trump have warned against his return to the presidency, describing him as “fascist to the core” and accusing him of trying to divide Americans.According to an analysis by CNN, Trump’s threat to use the U.S. military to deal with the “enemy within” if he wins the election has sparked new concerns about what he might ask of the American forces if he were to secure a second term as commander-in-chief.In his new book The War, Bob Woodward quoted former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley as saying that the former president “is the most dangerous person to this country… He is fascist to the core.”Last Thursday, Woodward mentioned that General Jim Mattis, who served as Secretary of Defense under Trump, sent him an email expressing agreement with Milley’s assessment. Mattis’ core message regarding Trump was, “Let’s ensure we don’t underestimate the threat because it is high.”
