I didn’t expect that a former United States president who had done so much in his tenure to bring Israel and Palestine together would utter some unnecessary, illogical remarks that only showed his disregard for international law. When a former president of a superpower that claims to champion human rights makes such statements, it’s unsettling. It suggests that the world may not have been in fair hands, nor governed by a truly rules-based order. For those who don’t know, , “They (Jews) were there first before their faith (Islam) existed.” This is a remark that often surfaces in pro-Israel circles, apparently to justify the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine. He also said, “The H-organization (name changed) makes sure that they’re shielded. They’ll force you to kill civilians if you want to defend yourself”. This implies that he’s justifying the civilian killings in war-like situations, no matter how big the death toll becomes. So, why did I say in the beginning that these remarks were unnecessary, illogical, and callous…
