When I dieBurn my bodyIn a fire of burning thorns,But let not the wind carry with itThe voices of despair:Keep me wherever you will,But guard me well:In a steppe or in the darkness,Where only spirits dwellAnd those who have forgotten themselves. But if you wish to punish me,Leave me among youTo die a little more,For it is no great punishmentLike believing, day after day,Desperately,That man is only himselfAnd others are no one!Lisbon, 06/?/1963
Poem of the unpublished ‘Poetic Collection’, published for the first time in reference to the 11th Edition: A Poetic Journey between the Longing for Mozambique and Existentialism in Lisbon from the biweekly publication “I’ve Got Something to Tell You: In the Labyrinth of Freedom”.
