Don’t take your hand from mine,For I fear the night descending,And I don’t want to be alone in this waiting,Between what was nothing and what will never be.I am afraid: let me play with your hairTo be sure that you exist;And may your smile never fade,It is the most beautiful thing in the world,Because I love you, and if I didn’t,It would be just another smile among so many;And let us walk as two childrenAlong what remains of the road,Hand in hand through the night:One day, I believe, a new sun will shine,And man will be redeemed from his pain,And all will be free to love.And when, in the dawning light,All the flowers have bloomed,And the gods have become men,When the light of hymns and songs
