Back in April, I went to Munich to see “Dalí: Spellbound” — an immersive exhibition of the artist’s surreal works. It explored his work relationship with Alfred Hitchcock and outlined the creative process behind the Oscar-winning film Spellbound (1945).

I had not seen the film before going to the exhibit, however, I was familiar with some of Salvador Dalí’s paintings. The melting clocks, the long-legged elephants, blue skies and desert landscapes. Dalí produced 1,500 paintings in his career.The last part of the exhibit involved receiving a VR headset and walking into Dalí’s paintings ourselves! We rode beds across water, treked around the desert, came across dream-like figures. It was a fascinating experience and I’d gladly step into other artists’ paintings.

In the past, I’ve prompted you to explore different topics or poetic forms, but this month, we’re looking for a specific genre: surrealism.

In October-November, I encourage you to “Feel Surreal” and delve into the whimsical, the strange, the uncanny.
