The majestic oak stands tall and strong
Its branches reach out to grasp me
Holding me tight to its core
Providing protection
and security
ever guarded
I am safe
always
loved.

We live in a heavily treed area and recently endured the challenges of a Category 3 hurricane making landfall near us. In the aftermath, we faced street flooding, downed trees and limbs, and much debris. Throughout the entire ordeal, I felt comforted by the hug of the trees.

Nonet: A Nonet is a nine-line syllabic poem that begins with nine syllables on the first line, eight on the second, and so on.
