The ocean lures me
into her unconscious
oblivion,
mind and body,
a timely rhythm,
weaving a silhouette.

I’m aware,
my life may submerge
as soon as I tumble
from the crest
of a Maverick wave
to the pull of an undertow.

If I take life for granted,
if I act in a hasty manner,
I will lose my footing,
but if I hang loose,
regain composure,
I could walk a tightrope
on a single toe.

I am a conqueror of fear,
a reflection of my heart.
I persist.
I navigate the path.
I slide through the barrel.
My soul is steady,
and I thirst for a thrill.

Some say,
it is true madness
to pursue a dream,
engulfed by corrugated water,
yet compelled to go…
