Time flies, like sand through our fingers, and the tighter we squeeze, the faster it flows through them. I have always been fascinated by the passage of time and how we each observe and measure it in our own way, usually singly in the privacy of our own minds but sometimes collectively as a whole country. Twice every year, we all agree to uproot and transform our days into a different time frame, moving them forward or back one hour, and every year, except for Hawaii and Arizona, we dutifully obey.I wish they would either keep it year-round as DST, preferably, or just keep it like it is. Time is confusing enough naturally instead of adding these artificial adjustments to our daily lives. Time is the eternal conundrum, the deepest well we can throw a pebble down and wait forever for the echo of its landing, the sound of one hand clapping, the blink of an eye, or a long drawn-out lifetime of opportunities missed or taken advantage of.This is especially noticeable with our children, watching them being born and progressing through the stages of life.
