I took a three-day vacation from Medium, and it changed my perspective on life in many obvious and subtle ways. First of all was the luxury of the rest factor. I was able to relax and not worry about self-imposed deadlines, not fret over earnings, and not worry about the mysterious algorithms that shape, alter, and mold our lives as writers.I rediscovered the fact that there was a big wide, wonderful happy world out there, full of sunshine, laughter, and fun things to see and do. I thoroughly enjoyed each day.My daughter flew into town for a three-day holiday, and we used the time off to revisit, explore, and enjoy all the things we used to do when she was young and growing up here in San Francisco. A time when we were blissfully unburdened. A roof over our heads, a car to drive around, and a job or school to occupy our days were all we needed. But we were always living for the weekend, a time to just roam and wander and explore all the many treasures in San Francisco, the values we both shared, and the experiences of a lifetime and a way of life we thought would never end. Those were the days, my friends, those were the days.
