During the Renaissance, marble workers would cover imperfections in the stone by filling it with wax.

So, with time a perfect sculpture, without nicks, without repairs and which was much more priced and valuable came to be distinguished as “sine cera” in Latin, translated in English as, without wax.

Sincere (adjective).Definition: (a) free of dissimulation: HONEST.(b)free from adulteration: PURE.Synonyms: genuine, guileless, honest, ingenuous, innocent, naive (or naïve), natural, real, simple, true, unaffected, unpretending, unpretentious.
Although the sincerity (weak pun intended) of this folk etymology has been challenged, it’s such a refreshing way to sign a romantic letter. And I bet your better half will care much less about the authenticity of the tale than how sweet it all dances on his or her eardrums.

So, JonesPJ, as my favourite writer on Medium, not to make Jay Squires jealous but I just want to tell you that you are my favourite writer on Medium.
