I have quite a few people in my life, as I’m sure many of my readers either currently do or have in the past, who believe that all of the answers of life can be found in the Bible. If you need any sort of guidance, just “turn to the Good Book”.So with that in mind let’s put that concept to the test, in this instance let’s turn to the topic of women’s rights, and how women should be treated by men and society in general.We’ll start off in the Old Law

Deuteronomy 22:28–29-NASB

28 “If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and has sexual relations with her, and they are discovered, 29 then the man who had sexual relations with her shall give the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife, because he has violated her; he is not allowed to divorce her all his days.

This verse, which I remember is allegedly inspired by the all-knowing creator of the universe, says that if a woman is raped, the worst-case scenario for the man is that he has to pay off the father for her. Giving the father the “bride price”, basically purchasing the daughter since she is now damaged goods.
