If you talk to Christians about Islam an argument that commonly comes up is that Allah is not the same God that Christians and Jews worship, as well as claiming that Islam is a religion that calls for violence as opposed to Christianity wanting peace.It’s an argument repeated time and time again, but what basis do we see in the actual scriptures, Quran or Bible, that support this?

Quran 2:190: “And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, and do not transgress. Allah does not love the transgressors.”Quran 2:216: “They will fight you until they make you disbelievers if they can. And whoever among you disbelieves after his faith and dies while a disbeliever, their deeds have been wasted in this world and the Hereafter, and they are the Companions of Hellfire.”Quran 9:5: “So when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them, and capture them, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in every ambush.”Quran 2:191: “Kill them wherever you come upon them and drive them out of the places from which they have driven you out”

This sounds pretty rough, but looking into the context of the last two verses it seems that early Muslims were under attack…
