Can a Christian Lose Their Salvation?

Oct 11, 2024Another term used for this belief is “eternal security”, basically the belief is that once you’ve truly received Jesus as your savior then you essentially can’t “backslide” and lose the salvation you received.
For those of you unfamiliar with this doctrine you may already see some issues with it. For example, what if someone accepted Christ, was baptized, etc. at a young age but then became some sort of mass-murdering monster?Well, then that person must not have been truly saved!
Yes, it allows a lot of wiggle room for believers in this doctrine to talk themselves out of a corner when presented with real-world examples.Another thing it does is basically allow those people to be really terrible people most of the time, because after all they’ve already secured their “eternal security”, so why bother actually trying to be a good person?I mean Christianity uses fear as one of its main recruitment strategies.
