- Historically, commercial exchanges have been the source of progress, cultural acceptance, alliances, discovery, wars, etc. Throughout the evolution of mankind as we know it, trade has been very present, the exchange of goods and services has been vital for the development of cities, nations and states.
- The well known Chinese Silk Road involved, among other great deeds, communication, trade and the development of different cultures; that is why China launched its great project in 2013 known as “One Belt, One Road Initiative”. The objective, the creation of an international infrastructure to connect the country with Asia and the rest of the world to gain economic and political influence globally.
- Spain should do something similar, obviously subject to our economic capacity. Long-term plans are vital for a country’s development and this could be one for the Iberian Peninsula nation. But what could Spain do to gain influence? Where would it be carried out? What would be the consequences?
