In a world where historically there are different forms of government, there has always been a great debate as to which form of government is the optimal one. During the first lustrum of the last century, more radical visions of government began to emerge, and after seeing their consequences during the second lustrum, more democratic systems began to emerge and be implemented in countries with great global influence. The importance of this phenomenon is primary, since these countries were considered as the ‘best’ publicly, and the rest of the nations with different ways of government were pointed out as erroneous systems, according to certain voices of the ‘democratic’ countries. Until during the last few years we have observed a deterioration of the democratic system and an advance of great magnitudes in non-democratic countries, such as China, who is even in the contest against the United States for the world hegemony. The analysis of this timeline makes me ask myself several questions:
What is the problem with today’s democracies and what is the reason for their deterioration? How to combat the decline? How countries like China have achieved such an admirable development in such a short time?
