AUKUS: NATO of the Pacific.
September 15th, 2021. Key date for history. A trilateral military security partnership is created in a convulsive region that is key to the future of geopolitical dominance in the Pacific. This area is of great importance due to the resurgence and development of China in recent decades, which is closing in on the United States for the race towards world hegemony. The Yankees are not willing to yield to China in any way, so they have aligned with Australia and the United Kingdom to create such a trilateral pact to confront the plans of Xi Jinping’s government. What is AUKUS? For what purpose is it being created? What is the future of the alliance?
AUKUS is a military alliance in the Pacific region formed by the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. The purpose of the pact is to take advantage of Australia’s strategic position to counter Chinese political and military expansion, in addition to militarizing an Australia that would become a strategic enclave of the Western sphere in order to control the Pacific and with it its seas, its ships and its business. The Pacific is of great importance for reasons such as being the most economically prosperous region of the world, being home to about half of the world’s population and serving 60% of global GDP, as well as key geographical areas such as the Strait of Malacca, and the South and East China Seas, with great commercial importance.
