In the bitter environment of Maldova, Maia Sandu finally snatched a clear victory against an alleged pro-Russian Alexdandr Stoianoglo. The Election Commission of Moldova announced the final results. The Commission announced a total of 98.0% turnout. Sandu claimed the victory with more than 54% of the votes, stressing that she would serve all the citizens equally. She added that it is the loss of no one; however, she has been critical of the pro-Russian leader, claiming outright Russian interference in the country’s election through bomb blast threats, cyber-attacks, and vote mobilization to ensure Stoianoglo’s victory.
Foreign Policy of Moldova
Sandu has confirmed Moldova’s foreign policy direction. Since 2020, Sandu has had a clear stance: integration into the European Union and cooperation with the EU in different sectors such as energy, transportation, and national and regional security.
