The self-proclaimed independent state Transnistria represents a relic of the Cold War often cited as the last part of the United Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) on earth after its collapse in 1991. Early Years
The state of Transnistria has been occupied and influenced by many powers throughout history due to its position between great empires such as the Russian and Ottoman Empires.The state throughout antiquity was home to various tribes, including Thracians and Scythians, Slavic traditions and Ottoman culture influenced them as the empire expanded.
