Introduction

The Ansar Allah or supporters of god in Arabic are a militant group and political party with a province in Western Yemen funded and supported by Iran against Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Western world. The group is often referred to as the Houthis by Westerners and was created in the Yemeni Civil War where it rose to power destroying the previous government. Recently, the Houthis who Iran supports have been reaching the headlines for their direct attacks on international shipping which have caused the USA to launch, ‘Operation Prosperity Freedom’.
