I’m in the midst of my master’s thesis, and of course, any help is welcome during those endless days of searching for the right research, phrasing sentences correctly, and citing according to the guidelines. So far, AI has been both a huge help and, at times, a bit of a burden. Here’s what I’ve learned — what has worked, and what hasn’t.
Research
You either love it or hate it. I have to admit, research is probably my favorite part, even though I’m a writer at heart. Sifting through papers, books, and articles, and finally finding that needle in the haystack is oddly thrilling. And now, with AI, it’s faster and more rewarding than ever. AI tools can help you find relevant literature in just a few minutes. However, you should always double-check that the sources are peer-reviewed and ideally published by reputable outlets. AI can assist, but it shouldn’t be the sole gatekeeper of your research quality.
Finding the Right Topic
While you shouldn’t rely solely on AI-generated topic suggestions, AI can still be useful when narrowing down a subject for your paper. Ideally, you want to look for gaps in the existing literature.
