Oct 4, 2024I was growing up at the very end of the Soviet Union. In their early thirties, my parents looked confidently into the bright future. I had been forever programmed for the best possible future by the wonderful children’s movie A Guest from the Future. My parents’ enthusiasm infected me as well. The whole country was abuzz with glasnost and perestroika.
Back in the late 1980s, my parents had no desire to live somewhere other than the Soviet Union. Neither did I. We enjoyed the best of all possible worlds. Not that we knew about the rest of the world…
