Breathing the Breath

A short meditation of imagination
Micheal Warsum, permission granted
Breath in

the fresh air of salty ocean winds and
the thin crisp air at a snow mountain peak.

Inhale

the rich, heavy air of the Amazon forest and
the warm air rising from a sunny grass prairie.

Take in

the dry desert air as it cools at sunset and
the smell of foggy rain on green gentle hills.

Breathe like

an elephant through your long trunk,
a running horse with flaring nostrils
a fish through its gills
a snake waiting
a rabbit hiding
the dogs playing.

Remember

the sharp in-breath of pain,
panting in fear,
pausing between breaths in curiosity to listen,
the slow exhale of relief
the soothing rhythms of total relaxation.

Share

this precious life-giving air
with all life: present, past and future.

Thank you for stopping by! Let me know how you liked this.
