How Justin Trudeau is damaging India-Canada relations
The gloves are off between India and Canada, it’s an unprecedented escalation. New Delhi has downgraded its relationship with Canada. We have a High Commissioner in Ottawa but he along with other top diplomats have been recalled. It’s a latest chapter in the year long standoff.
Just a shortwhile back, New Delhi summoned the Canada’s top Diplomat in India. By all accounts if was a feisty talk and look at the India’s MEA(Ministry of External Affairs) statement that came out afterwards.
It was underlined that in an atmosphere of extremism and violence, the Trudeau Governments actions endangered the safety of the diplomats. We have no faith in the current Canadian Government’s commitment to ensure their security
The Khalistani groups have posted a video showing the burning of the effigy of a High Commissioner of India to Canada. On 13t October 2024, Canada delivered a message to New Delhi saying that Indian Diplomats were persons of interest in a probe including the High Commissioner.
They were person’s of interest(a person involved in any illegal activities against the country where he is posted) so they maybe investigated, the Canadian Government did not say which probe. The question here arises is that why is Canada doing such stunts with India.
